My latest beauty secret is a miracle in a bottle and costs less than $3! I’d heard of the benefits of rose water and decided to try it out for myself. Rose water can be used for hair (growth, soothing irritated scalps, balancing your hair’s ph levels, etc.) and skin (toning, removing makeup/dirt/dust, clearing acne, etc.) The benefits are endless and my favorite little bonus is how it makes your skin and hair smell just like roses. Read on for a few recipes that you could use to incorporate into your beauty regimen.

Improve complexion: Take 2 tbsp of gram flour and mix it with rose water to make a smooth paste. You can also add lemon juice if it’s available. Apply this paste for 15 minutes on face and you can also use it on arms. This is a n effective way to get rid of tanning and get clear even complexion. –The Indian Spot

Face cleanser: Wash your face with a mild face wash. Take one tablespoon of rose water in a small bowl and add few drops of glycerine to it. Apply this mixture on your face and then wash it off. This cleanser can be used on all skin types. You can also use it to wipe off makeup or product residue from your face. It will nourish your skin deeply. –India Times

Shampoo: To create the shampoo, you’d require rose water (1/4 cup), rum (1/4 cup), three eggs and vinegar. This natural shampoo is incredibly good for oily hair. To begin with, the eggs need to be beaten thoroughly inside a large bowl. Add rose water and rum within the quantities mentioned. Massage the mix into your hair and scalp; start with your scalp area and come down to the hair-ends. In case your hair tends to be extremely oily, leaving this shampoo for a few minutes will be beneficial. Rinse it in vinegar because this will strip the surplus oils and restore natural sheen for your hair. –Organic x Benefits

You can also put some in a spray bottle and use it as a spritz to refresh your makeup or to moisturize your hair. I purchased my bottle of Laxmi Rose water for about $2.50 in my neighborhood supermarket (Wegman’s) in the international cooking section.
